Resources, exercises and physiotherapy guidance for neck discomfort related to posture and daily activities

Neck pain and muscular tension in the neck are very common problems and can affect people of all ages.
Many people spend long hours working at a computer, using their mobile phone or driving. Others spend most of the day standing, performing physically demanding tasks or maintaining certain positions for prolonged periods.
Common symptoms include:
πΉ tension in the neck and shoulders
πΉ stiffness when moving the head
πΉ discomfort at the end of the day
πΉ a feeling of neck overload
πΉ difficulty maintaining certain positions for long periods
However, not all neck problems have the same cause.
Some people develop symptoms after spending many hours sitting or looking down, while others may experience discomfort related to prolonged standing, physical work or activities performed with the head held up for long periods.
π€ WHY DON’T RANDOM EXERCISES ALWAYS WORK?
When neck pain or tension appears, it is common to search for exercises online and try them without knowing whether they are actually suitable for your situation.
The problem is that people with similar symptoms may require completely different approaches.
For this reason, before starting any exercise program, it is important to understand which factors may be contributing to your symptoms.

I am Antonio, a physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal conditions and the founder of PhysioCareHub.
Our philosophy is simple:
Understand the problem and progress step by step.
For this reason, we have created two free guidance-based protocols, designed around the profiles we most commonly see in people experiencing neck pain and tension.
π WHICH PROFILE LOOKS MOST LIKE YOU?
The following questions are not intended to provide a diagnosis and do not replace an assessment by a healthcare professional.
They are simply designed to help you better understand your situation and choose the protocol that may be most appropriate for you.
π» MANY HOURS SITTING, USING SCREENS OR LOOKING DOWN
β You spend most of your day sitting
β You use a computer, phone or tablet for many hours
β You drive frequently
β You often keep your head tilted forward or looking down
β You mainly feel stiffness or tension in the back of your neck
π If you identify with most of these situations, you may present a pattern compatible with a possible cervical straightening.
Cervical straightening refers to a reduction of the natural curve of the neck and is often observed in people who spend long periods with their head positioned forward or looking down.
π MANY HOURS STANDING, PHYSICAL EFFORT OR HEAD HELD UP
β You spend many hours standing
β You regularly perform physically demanding activities
β You frequently lift or handle loads
β You spend part of the day looking upward or keeping your head elevated
β You often feel compression or overload in the neck area
π If you identify with most of these situations, you may present a pattern compatible with a possible cervical hyperlordosis.
Cervical hyperlordosis refers to an increase in the natural curve of the neck and may be associated with prolonged postures or repetitive physical demands.
π― NOT SURE WHICH PROFILE FITS YOU?
It is not always easy to identify which factors are contributing to your neck discomfort.
If you are unsure or do not clearly identify with either profile, you can complete our Comprehensive Neck Self-Assessment.
In addition to guided questions, you will find photos, videos and step-by-step tests designed to help you better understand your situation and guide you towards the most appropriate protocol.
